Artist and storyteller Karina Liendo presents her series "Like Water For Chocolate."  Inspired by her grandmother, Liendo emphasizes the emotional connections between intergenerational family members. She highlights how food can be a powerful expression of love, shared memories, and cultural preservation.

In this program, Liendo will share a series of stories inspired by her grandmother, Angela from Peru. She loved her family deeply and showed it through cooking. Like the novel  Like water for Chocolate each story will include a recipe related to an event in her life. Liendo will encourage the audience to share their stories about their grandparents while tasting traditional dishes or snacks from Angela's  kitchen. We will end up singing and dancing to one of her favorite songs.

Often, listening to someone’s story will remind us of a story from our own lives. One of the intentions of the series is to create a nostalgic feeling and to make, when possible, to reconnect to our extended family and cherish together traditions, including food that seem to disappear in the current hectic life.
